As you shop for entertainment you will come across "agencies" and "orchestras" who charge you thousands of dollars more than us, will promise you a certain band, then show up with a "pick up band" on the day of your wedding. We've seen it happen, and it is quite unfortunate. If you are planning to hire a band from a large office, be aware that a large portion of your money is being used to pay for their overhead: office rent, staff payroll, administrative fees, commissions and partner profits. The percentage of monies that go to the musicians is usually less than 50%. Since many couples are seeking value, they are booking independent bands where their money will go to the musicians, thus buying better talent and superior service.
